The European Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation (E.MA.) is a one-year, inter-university and interdisciplinary postgraduate program. The aim of the Master’s program is to train experts in the field of human rights and democratization and to prepare them for their future work for international organizations (especially EU, UN, OSCE and NGOs).
In the first semester, students in Venice receive a comprehensive introduction to the historical, philosophical, anthropological, politological and legal foundations of international human rights protection, which is completed by a field mission to Kosovo organized by the Vienna Forum of Democracy and Human Rights. The students spend the summer semester in one of the now 41 partner universities throughout the EU, where they attend seminars and write their master’s thesis.
