To mark the 75th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights, a special edition of the webinar series “Europe 90 Minutes+” was held on 23 October 2025 for all Austrian schools.
The mini online lecture series by Zentrum polis was held under the patronage of Alain Berset (Secretary General of the Council of Europe) and Christoph Wiederkehr (Minister of Education).
The online episode was moderated by Patricia Hladschik, Zentrum polis, and Anton Salesny, Honorary Representative of the Council of Europe for Austria.
Aloisia Wörgetter, Austrian Ambassador to the Council of Europe, Manfred Nowak, human rights expert and board member of the Vienna Forum for Democracy and Human Rights, and Udo Seiwert-Fauti, former ARD journalist at the Council of Europe and BBC radio reporter, were live guests and reported on the importance and current relevance of the ECHR and answered the students’ many questions.
Over 200 students, teachers and interested parties followed the event either on a screen in the classroom or by tuning in directly from their offices or living rooms.
The Council of Europe honours this initiative with a news report and a press release to its 40,000 multipliers.
