DCE Promoters Network meets in Rome to develop an action plan for digital citizenship policy development

How can Digital Citizenship Education (DCE) be more firmly embedded in education policy and practice? The Council of Europe’s DCE Promoters Network addressed this question at its ninth meeting, held in Rome on 7 and 8 October 2026. Representing Austria at the meeting was Patricia Hladschik, Managing Director of Zentrum polis and Austrian DCE promoter.

The focus was on the implementation of the Road Map for Strengthening Digital Citizenship Education 2027–2031. The aim is to strengthen cooperation within the network and to advance the development and implementation of measures for digital citizenship education in the member states. In this way, the network contributes to strengthening democratic participation and resilience in the digital age.
